Many individuals starting out in paintball opt to buy a package set. The package includes a paintball marker, or gun. It also includes the hopper which stores paintball guns and CO2 cartridges and a cleaning kit. Any sort of paintball gun can come in a package, however, and the style and price of the marker you select is an intensely personal decision.

Cheap Paintball Guns

There are cheap paintball guns that are perfect for a beginner, but even cheap in paintball terms can be a bit steep. However, considering the top markers used in paintball can be over $1000, paying $200 for a solid marker to get started in the hobby is a wise investment. When you buy a paintball marker, even a cheap one, you’ll be getting a gun that includes or needs various components.

Paintball Marker – The paintball marker does the work on the paintball field. It has a muzzle and a trigger, but needs a bit of help to fire.

Air Tanks – Compressed air is what makes the paintballs fly, and you must buy separate air tanks. CO2 is most common inside the air tanks, but nitrogen has been used as well. Having a spare tank or two can help if you’ll be playing for long stretches as gas does get used up and the tanks must be refilled once empty.

Paintball Hopper – The hopper is a long tube that holds paintballs to your gun. Fill the hopper with paintballs and attach it to the gun to shoot.
