Paintballing

For those who enjoy the art of combat and the thrill of the hunt, paintballing is an ideal hobby. Paintballing can mean many different things depending on the level of the enthusiast, but in essence, playing paintball includes firing paintball guns at opponents in a game of hide and seek. When the paintball strikes your opponent, it will leave a visible paint splatter letting everyone know you’ve hit your target.

Paintball Guns

The weapons used to shoot paintballs are similar in style to traditional weapons with two caveats. Paintball guns are not designed for and can not fire bullets or projectiles other than paintballs. Also, paintball guns are easily recognizable by the paintball canisters that must be attached in order to fire the weapons correctly. There is a wide range of guns for paintballing. Some are inexpensive while others are designed for true enthusiasts and are top of the line.

Paintballing

If you’re considering becoming a paintballer or if you’re already active in paintball but are looking to up the level of your game, investing in your own gear makes sense. Preparing adequately for a game of paintball can include:

Paintball guns – A paintball gun, or marker, is often the first item a paintball player buys for himself. Your first paintball gun doesn’t need to be anything out of the ordinary and finding a great deal on a marker will let you test the waters to determine what sort of gun you’d like to have down the road. It’s a safe bet that your first paintball gun will be an introductory weapon. Your future guns will be the ones that let you specialize other areas of play such as sniping.

Paintball Safety Gear – Paintball is harmless to play if you’re properly equipped. Being equipped to play paintball means you’re protected from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. The marble-size paintballs can definitely sting if you’re hit from at close range and getting hit in the face without proper gear can be a significant risk. Paintball masks are absolutely necessary and most players wear a jumpsuit or long sleeves and long pants while playing as well. If you don’t own your equipment, you can rent it from the paintball fields or buildings.

The Advantages of Paintballing

When considering the alternative forms of weaponry, paintball has significant advantages.

Paintballing is safe. With paintball, there is little risk of injury so long as the proper protective gear is worn. Airsoft guns are a bit more dangerous than paintballing and firing pellet guns or true weapons for target practice or hunting can take a dangerous toll as well.

Paintballing is family-friendly. Many of paintball’s youngest players are there with their older brothers or fathers. It’s a family affair and a great way for teens and older children to exercise in a meaningful way. Running, sliding, hiding and climbing are all part of the game and this level of enthusiasm makes it a fun activity for everyone.
